Croft LBV Late Bottled Vintage Port 2013 75cl
Alc Vol: 20%
Size: 75cl
The Croft house has very strict rules when it comes to their Late Bottled Vintage, they will only bottle at six years from the harvest to gain the best maturity, yet retain the plump, full berry fruit flavours.
If you love vintage Port but want a version which is everyday-affordable then this LBV is for you. LBV stands for ‘Late Bottled Vintage’ – it’s a blend of some of the best full-bodied reds from this vintage. But unlike vintage Port, which takes years – even decades – to age in bottle, LBV is ready to drink right away. It’s aged for up to six years in huge oak barrels which mellows wine’s tannin, giving it a really velvety texture. It’s packed with dark berry fruit like blackcurrants – but with a really savoury edge. Think balsamic, mocha and liquorice.
The Late Bottle Vintage 2013 is like blackcurrant coulis, prunes, rose petals, Russian Caravan tea, chocolate-covered almonds, herby balsamic, coffee and Christmas cake all trapped beneath a cork. LBVs are aged for longer in wood, so that when bottled they’re ready to drink immediately.
Delicious and affordable? So, crack this open with cheese, It’s the perfect Port for gatherings – and, of course, it’s perfect with a really ripe blue cheese, chocolate-based desserts and festive fare, or simply sip it after dinner next to the fireplace.
